Stars welcome Ducks into Dallas

It's a bleak night for hockey fans around North America on Friday when just the Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks suit up for battle.
In yet another strange scheduling quirk brought about by the abbreviated 48-game schedule the Stars arrive home at the American Airlines Center after three games on the road in Phoenix, Colorado and Edmonton only to head straight back out to face the Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks starting next Tuesday.
Wednesday at the Rexall Place in Edmonton Jaromir Jagr scored in overtime to give the Stars, 2001.00 to win the Stanley Cup, the 3-2 victory over the Oilers.
Justin Schultz's third goal of the season had tied proceedings in the third period after Jamie Benn and Derek Roy had answered Ales Hemsky’s goal after 3:21 of the contest.
Anaheim are tied with the San Jose Sharks for the best record in the Pacific Division and Saturday the Sharks return to action when they host the Phoenix Coyotes at the HP Pavilion. San Jose could use a win to snap their three-game losing streak before heading out on the road for six-game road swing starting in Columbus on Monday.
The game against the Sharks will conclude the Blue Jackets home stand, but first they welcome in the Oilers to the Nationwide Arena over the weekend.
Thursday Columbus took the Calgary Flames to overtime before falling 4-3 as Alex Tanguay broke the deadlock. It was the second consecutive defeat and fourth in their past five games for the Blue Jackets who once again find themselves at the foot of the Western Conference.
