Spurs seek eighth win in a row

The San Antonio Spurs kept the pressure on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday evening with a six-point triumph over the Mavericks at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Tim Duncan is currently recovering from a knee injury.
It was the seventh win in a row for the Southwest Division leaders who face a friendly schedule this week with games against the Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Bobcats and Washington Wizards all at the AT & T Center in San Antonio.
Without the absent Tim Duncan, who remains out with a sore knee, the Spurs still had more than enough for the Mavericks with Tiago Splitter filling in admirably with a double-double and Tony Parker leading all scorers with 23 points despite sitting out time in the game after a heavy foul gave the point guard a cut above his eye.
The Los Angeles Clippers, losers of three in a row after their surprise 93-88 reversal in Phoenix on Thursday, are at the Rose Garden in Portland to play the Trail Blazers.
Now two games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs in the race for the top spot in the Western Conference, the Clippers face the prospect of a first round post-season matchup with the Denver Nuggets who are likely to be trouble for any side they play.
On Wednesday, the Nuggets moved eight games above .500 on the season with their victory over the Rockets in Houston and Denver start a six-game home stand on Saturday with the visit of the Sacramento Kings to the Pepsi Center.
The Bulls are 7501.00 to win this season's NBA Championship while the Heat can be backed at 1.75 and the Celtics at 7501.00.
