Nuggets chasing Warriors and Grizzlies
February 01, 2013 18:33:06 UK
The Denver Nuggets remain hot on the heels of the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference after winning five in a row.
A useful 8-2 in their past 10 outings the Nuggets are coming off a 118-110 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday evening at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
Danilo Gallinari led the way for the hosts hitting 10-of-17 from the floor including 4-of-9 from downtown for a game high 27 points.
Kenneth Faried continued his fine play adding 19 points and nine rebounds as the former Moorhead State star continues to flourish as anticipated - it’s one of the few guarantees in basketball that rebounding translates to the NBA more readily than any other skill.
The New Orleans Hornets are 3.65 to upset the Denver Nuggets on Friday, while the hosts are 1.30 for the victory.
That doesn’t guarantee team success of course as the Los Angeles Lakers continue to discover despite being third in the league with 45 boards per game.
On Friday LA continues their road trip at the Target Center in Minneapolis when they play the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Four games out of a playoff spot and a brutal 5-16 away from the Staples Center this season LA needs to turn around their road form if they are to have any chance of chasing down the Houston Rockets to make the post season.
On Sunday the Lakers are at The Palace of Auburn Hills and then continue on to Brooklyn, Boston, Charlotte and Miami before returning home to host the Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers prior to the All-Star break.
