Murray to miss Slovakia showdown

Andy Murray will miss Great Britain's upcoming Davis Cup tie against Slovakia due to injuries sustained during his run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open.
Murray's absence for the Euro/Africa Zone Group I tie at the Braehead Arena between 10-12 February leaves James Ward and Dan Evans as the probable singles choices for captain Leon Smith.
A disappointed Murray told the LTA's official website: "I'm gutted to miss out on the Davis Cup, having really enjoyed playing last year.

"But as it's only the start of an important season, which includes the Olympics in London, it's probably a sensible decision.
"My focus in 2012 is on performing well in the Grand Slams and the London 2012 Olympics. I look forward to playing in the next Davis Cup tie later in the year."
Slovakia have two players ranked inside the top 100 in the men's game, Lukas Lacko and Karol Beck, with Ward (155) and Evans (296) both much lower in the rankings.
Victory for GB would see them set up a clash with Belgium in the second round of Euro/Africa Zone Group I, with the winner of that tie heading for a World Group play-off.
Serbia are currently 501.00 to win the Davis Cup in 2012, with Argentina 7.50 and holders Spain 2.62.
