Imperious Frankel romps to victory
June 19, 2012 15:12:41 UK
Frankel showed why he is regarded as the world's top racehorse by easing to victory by 11 lengths in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Frankel, the highest-rated horse in the world, had little trouble cruising to his seventh Group One victory from just 11 career starts.
Ridden by Tom Queally and trained by Sir Henry Cecil, Frankel outclassed Excelebration, who had won his last four races, but had to settle for second place.
Queally moved Frankel to the head of the field with three furlongs left after Bullet Train had set the early pace.
Excelebration appeared to be in a good position to challenge when Frankel moved ahead but Aidan O'Brien's four-year-old was unable to respond and was almost caught by Side Glance who finished the race strongly.
Indomito came in fourth but once again Frankel showed just why he is in a different class from the rest.
