Hughes ready for title battle

Richard Hughes is a man on fire and admits he is now going hell for leather for the leading jockey's title.
Hughes followed a Bath four-timer on Tuesday with a Brighton treble yesterday and is now 1.01 to beat the rest to the title at the end of the season.

I want the title and it's going to be a great battle.

Ryan Moore inevitably starts the season as favourite to win the big one, given his willingness to travel from one end of the country afternoon and evening in pursuit of winners, and is now 26.00.
But after a great Glorious Goodwood Hughes is ready to battle his old rival down to the line in pursuit of ultimate glory.
He said: "I explained before the Goodwood meeting that if I was in a good position at the end of it I would really go for it and that's now the case.
"Be assured I'm going flat out from here until the end of the season. I want the title and it's going to be a great battle. I couldn't be more up for it."
Given that the Irishman started the season late following a ban from the Indian authorities, his achievement in being in such a position is quite extraordinary.
And were he to lift the crown there wouldn't be a race fan in the country who wouldn't be delighted for the genial Irishman.
