Barry Geraghty was thrilled with Simonsgig's chasing debut at Ascot as he came home 49 lengths clear of Sulpius in a race in which the other runners fell.

He jumped beautifully and was absolutely foot perfect.

Trainer Nicky Henderson had expressed some worries given the heavy ground, but one of last year's Cheltenham Festival stars bounded home without turning a hair.
And that was good enough to see him installed a possible favourite for this season's Arkle Chase which Geraghty declared as "being a bit dismissive of the others in the race".
He explained that although the horse had seemed a little keen at the start "he's an out and out two miler" so that should be expected.
He added: "He jumped beautifully and was absolutely foot perfect. He never did anything stupid and when I let him go six out he was as he has been when schooling at home.
"He just took everything in his stride and on a racetrack like this you couldn't have been much happier."
Henderson is 1.16 to win the NH Trainers title, with Paul Nicholls 4.50 and Donald McCain 51.00.
