Buick backs Ruscello to shine

Will Buick is hoping to add to his sole Glorious Goodwood winner as the meeting goes into its third day.
He drew a blank yesterday which leaves him to celebrate only the success of Blessington on Tuesday afternoon.
He has half a dozen rides today however and said: "I reckon that a couple have very solid claims and others will need a bit of luck.

I'm pretty certain that good ground will suit him (Cay Verde) better than the good to soft at Royal Ascot.

"I think the best of them might come in one of the trickiest handicaps of the day, the Betfred Mobile Lotto Handicap over 11 furlongs where I'm back on Ruscello (5.25) for Ed Walker.
"If Ruscello had been beaten last time at Kempton I'd have taken a portion of the blame because I wasn't quite ready for a horse in front of us weakening very quickly and we were badly checked.
"As it was, Ruscello had the gears to get out of trouble and in the end we got there with a bit of time to spare and won by a neck."
He added that a 4lb rise looks more than enough but reckons there was a lot to like about Ruscello's attitude and that he's a horse who has the pace to do well around a track that favours one that can quicken. Ruscello is 9.00 to win the race while Assizes is at 8.00 and Maria's Choice can be backed at 12.00.
He's also very keen on Mick Channon's Cay Verde in the Group Two Richmond Stakes at whom he describes as "a colt with plenty of boot".
He said: "His four previous starts have been over five and apart from his debut he's shown a lot of dash. This is a fast six so I've got no concerns about the extra furlong and I'm pretty certain that good ground will suit him better than the good to soft at Royal Ascot when he was three-lengths sixth to the subsequent Prix Robert Papin winner Reckless Abandon in the Norfolk Stakes."
