The Selecao face Mexico in the final at Wembley, hoping to secure a first-ever football gold medal, with Brazil 1.22 to win the final, while Mexico are 4.00 to come out on top.
Rafael admits the samba aces are well aware of the expectation on their shoulders and he has extra reason to feel that burden.
The defender has taken his fair share of criticism in a United shirt in recent seasons and faces a busy few days to prepare for the Red Devils' Premier League opener at Everton on 20th August.
He insists: "This is an important game for Brazil. It would be amazing to now win it. Maybe the Brazil coach will think about me for the 2014 World Cup.
"Also, maybe the people in England will think about me differently if we win this gold medal. This tournament is good for my career.
"There are a only a few days between this final and the first game of the season, but this is normal for players. You often have to switch between competitions."
