Breakers to be quick out of the blocks

The New Zealand Breakers have said that are confident of a positive performance against Townsville in the first game of their upcoming finals series.
The Breakers clinched this season's Premiership title quite comfortably, just like they had done last season. But their playoffs start in 2011 was very disappointing as they had lost their opening game to the Perth Wildcats at home by a margin of 101-78 because of fatigue.
However, coach Andrej Lemanis says that the scheduling of their games towards the end of their regular season this time around was much more better and so they expect to start firing on all cylinders straightaway.
The Olympics are scheduled to take place this summer in London. Australia are 100/1 to win the 2012 Olympics' basketball competition. USA can be backed at odds of 1.01, while Spain and France are available at 17.00 and 10001.00respectively.
"I think the schedule leading in has been good for us. We've been playing against good teams and we've played some pretty good basketball. We're in a good spot to come out and continue to play well," Lemanis said in Wednesday's interview.
Friday's playoffs opener against Townsville is expected to draw a massive crowd and therefore, the Breakers have decided to host the game at Vector Arena instead of their usual North Shore Events Centre. Because of the Kiwi club's league-best record in the regular season, they are the favourites to win that game but Lemanis says that past doesn't count for anything in the playoffs.
He said: "The regular season doesn't mean anything. Everyone is back to 0-0. That's the beauty of the post-season. You have to win two games to advance and that's the bottom line."
