AC Milan moved five points clear at the top of Serie A after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Inter at the San Siro on Saturday.
Alexandre Pato netted a goal in each half before Antonio Cassano completed the scoring with a 90th-minute penalty as Inter's title challenge suffered a major setback.
Pato's first arrived after just 45 seconds and he doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, eight minutes after Inter had had Cristian Chivu sent off.
Milan also finished the match a man light after Cassano was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time.
At the other end of the table, Brescia gave themselves hope of avoiding relegation with a 3-1 triumph over Bologna at the Stadio Rigamonti.
Perparim Hetemaj put the home side in front after only three minutes and Davide Zoboli added a second six minutes later.
Marco Di Vaio pulled one back for Bologna, but a penalty from Andrea Caracciolo in the 65th minute sealed the win for Brescia and took them out of the bottom three at least for a night.
