United swoop for Buttner

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the signing of Alexander Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem, calling him one of "the best young left-backs in Europe".
The Red Devils, who are 1.002 to win the Premier League, have been on the look-out for a new full-back and had previously been linked with a move for Everton's Leighton Baines.
However, with no deal forthcoming for the Toffees ace Ferguson was forced to turn his attention elsewhere and has successfully moved for 23-year-old Buttner, who has signed a five-year deal.
The Dutch defender made 32 appearances for Vitesse Arnhem last season, scoring five goals, but is still seen as a raw talent, despite making the Netherlands preliminary squad for Euro 2012.
Buttner is likely to be used sparingly this season, with Patrice Evra still Ferguson's first choice at left-back despite a disappointing 2011/12 season.

Alexander is one of the best young left-backs in Europe and we're delighted to sign him.

The Scottish boss believes he has brought one for the future and is delighted with his third signing of the summer.
"Alexander is one of the best young left-backs in Europe and we're delighted to sign him," United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said.
"He's someone we've been watching for a while now. He gives us some really exciting options in that position."
Buttner joins Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa as the new arrivals at Old Trafford this summer.
Both Van Persie and Kagawa made their debuts in Monday's 1-0 defeat to Everton as they suffered an early setback in their bid to reclaim the Premier League.
United will hope to pick up their first points of the season on Saturday against Fulham, a game they are 1.28 to win, with the Cottagers 11.00 and the draw 5.50.
