Steven Gerrard has always played for Liverpool, despite interest from Chelsea over the years.
Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has heaped praise on his captain Steven Gerrard after being partnered with him in central midfield this season.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who was signed by Rafa Benitez from Charlton Athletic for £1.7million in 2010, had been a bit-part player at Anfield until the arrival of new boss Brendan Rodgers this season.
The way he plays is fantastic and to have him as my captain is immense. Jonjo Shelvey

"Stevie (Gerrard) is a great role model," the Romford born player told the Daily Mail.
"He's been doing it for club and country for years. The way he plays is fantastic and to have him as my captain is immense.
"He leads by example. It's those times when we have been searching for a crucial goal and he's dug in to get us out of difficulty."
