Ferdinand targets Euro 2012 place

Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand is hoping that a very difficult year can end in a glory trip to Euro 2012.
Ferdinand could barely have had a more complicated season with side-issues affecting him more than anything he has perhaps done on the pitch.

If I'm playing well, I'd like to think I'm in with a chance.

But despite all of that and the team's difficult position in the Premier League, the brother of Rio - as he seems fated to be known as - is hoping he can spring to international prominence.
The weekend results have left QPR at 3.25 to be relegated this season, while Wolves are 1.001 to go down, Blackburn Rovers 1.001 and Bolton Wanderers 1.36.

Ferdinand said: "I want to be the best I can be. I'd like to have a chance of playing for my country. I played a lot of games for the Under-21s and, if you ask the managers who were there with me, Stuart Pearce and Peter Taylor, they will tell you I never looked out of place, I looked comfortable at international level. It's more of a thinking game and I thrive like that.
"If I'm playing well, I'd like to think I'm in with a chance because I believe I'm good enough to play for my country and, if given a chance, I'd take it with both hands."
