Dalglish: Defeat has no affect

Boss Kenny Dalglish played down the importance of a 1-0 loss at home to Fulham, as he begins Liverpool's preparations for Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea.
A Martin Skrtel own goal drew the Cottagers level on points with the Reds, with Dalglish having opted to make a host of changes ahead of the Wembley showpiece at the weekend.

If we had come in and won 4-0 it wouldn't have made any difference to Saturday.

The Scot admitted that that had been a factor in the defeat, but felt that the reverse would have little impact on the clash with the Blues, saying: "It will not affect Saturday but that doesn't mean it (the performance) is right and it is not something you want to dismiss easily.
"It is not correct to go about your work in that way, but if we had come in and won 4-0 it wouldn't have made any difference to Saturday."
Liverpool are 2.10 to win the FA Cup for the eighth time in their history, with Chelsea 1.72 to draw level with the Reds on seven.
Dalglish did see one positive ahead of the weekend action, with striker Andy Carroll, 10.00 to open the scoring at Wembley, seemingly in line for a start after lasting 90 minutes against the Cottagers.
"It was nice to see the big lad (Carroll) back," Dalglish added. "He had a niggle at the weekend, but he is fit and back and played 90 minutes, so that is good for us."
