Postecoglou annoyed by lack of recognition

Brisbane coach Ange Postecoglou believes that the negative media portrayal of his team's 5-2 aggregate win over Central Coast Mariners has made his players even more determined to successfully defend their A-League title.
While the Roar were definitely the better of the two sides over two legs, their first goal in Gosford was scored in controversial circumstances. Moreover, they were shaky in defence in the late stages of the second leg and that enabled the press to tarnish their win a bit more.
I don't think people realise the enormity of what we achieved last weekend. Ange Postecoglou
Postecoglou was irked to see that the media chose to focus on these issues while ignoring the fact that they have qualified for the A-League Grand Final for the second straight year.
He said: "From my point of view, I don't need to pump (the team) up too much, because I think looking at some of the analysis of last week's game - that we only got lucky and had some referee's help - should mean the boys are really worked up for the grand final. (There's been) a little bit of hysteria. It was two games that see who gets to the grand final first, we won both of them, scored five goals, and people are talking about one referee's decision.
"I don't think people realise the enormity of what we achieved last weekend and that's why I'm annoyed at the commentary after the game. If they had have seen what those players had to go through in those seven days – they've played two of the biggest games of the year against the minor premiers plus having to travel and play a fantastic team from Korea and coming through that winning the two games that mattered most was just an enormous effort."
Meanwhile, the qualification final between Central Coast and Perth will be played on Saturday at Bluetongue Stadium. The Mariners are 1.90 to win, with the Glory at 4.00 and the draw at 3.50.
