Prandelli forced to ponder changes

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli says that he will have to consider major changes after seeing his side's only pre-Euro 2012 friendly end in a 3-0 defeat to Russia.

I am forced to try something, even if I haven't got much time, to give some security at the back.

The Azzurri were humbled in Zurich on Friday evening, leaving Prandelli to ponder a return to a three-man defence instead of a flat back four, despite the European Championship finals being just around the corner.
With a clash with defending champions Spain first on the agenda for the Italians on 10th June, Prandelli admitted: "We'll change the defence and start from scratch.
"You could see the fragility of the team when we went behind and I was surprised by the defence. I am forced to try something, even if I haven't got much time, to give some security at the back.
"It's true we only conceded two goals in qualifying, but that was eight months ago."
Italy are 3.40 to gain a draw against Spain in Gdansk and are 1.61 to progress to the knockout stages, while the Azzurri are 2.50 to be crowned European champions.
Also facing Italy in Group C are Croatia and the Republic of Ireland, with the former having been held to a 1-1 draw by Norway in Oslo in their final warm-up fixture on Saturday.
