Matt Prior is looking to pick up some pointers for the upcoming Ashes battles between England and Australia when he plays for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League.
Matt Prior is hoping to make his mark in the Big Bash League.
The 30-year-old wicketkeeper has headed Down Under after helping England to come from behind to win their Test series in India, with Prior able to take a close look at some of the newer Baggy Greens stars.
He told The Age: "I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be having a little watch and doing a bit of scouting and chatting to a few people about a few things."
England play host to Australia in the summer, before jetting halfway around the globe a matter of months later to complete back-to-back Ashes series.
Having won the last two Ashes series, England are 1.05 to triumph on home soil, with the draw 9.00, while Australia are 9.00 to regain the little urn with a shock victory.
Meanwhile, Prior believes that the fightback in India has left the England camp in high spirits for the challenges on the horizon, as he added: "We've got to hang on to that confidence and use it going forward, but things turn around very quickly.
"We've got to make sure that we use that as a platform to really push off and make sure that when we do face Australia we're in a very good place."
