England opt to rest Swann

Graeme Swann is to sit out the rest of the one-day series against Australia due to a sore elbow ahead of the visit of South Africa.
The England spinner is being rested with one eye on the forthcoming Test series, which the hosts are 81.00 to win.

Graeme has some pain in his elbow at the moment and we feel that an extra week's rest will allow his elbow to settle.

James Tredwell and Chris Woakes have been called up to the one-day squad for the remaining two matches of the series. Following Wednesday's washout at Edgbaston, England will win the series if they avoid defeat at either Chester-le-Street or Old Trafford. They are 1.80 to win the fourth match, while the Australians can be backed at 2.00.
"We had earmarked the fourth and fifth matches in this series as an opportunity to rest Graeme regardless of the result at Edgbaston as we have to consider our preparations for the Investec Test series later this month," confirmed national selector Geoff Miller.
"Graeme has some pain in his elbow at the moment and we feel that an extra week's rest will allow his elbow to settle. Chris Woakes replaces Jade Dernbach in the squad who has been ruled out with a side strain.
"We have played some very good cricket in the last week to lead this NatWest Series 2-0 and will need to continue that form if we are to win our seventh straight series on home soil."
