Ian Bell hit 126 as England saw off the West Indies in te first ODI.Ian Bell hit a fantastic 126 to lead England to victory over the West Indies in a rain affected first one-day international at the Rose bowl.
Bell was recalled to open the batting after Kevin Pietersen's decision to retire from ODIs and the Warwickshire batsmen, who has come in for criticism of late, was in fine form as he struck 126 as the hosts finished on 286-6.
Dwayne Smith reached 56 off 44 balls to give the tourists hope but the wickets fell for the West Indies either side of a rain delay as England wrapped up the win in the first ODI of the four match series.
The West Indies were bowled out for 176 as England claimed a 114-run Duckworth-Lewis win at the Rose Bowl.
The second ODI takes place at the Oval on Tuesday, England are 1.20 to win the series, while the West Indies can be backed at 4.50.
