Sanderson aware of Showdown importance

Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson has urged his charges to step up and take the centre stage when they meet their cross-town rivals Port Adelaide this weekend in the matchup that is widely known as "The Showdown".
The Crows were dominated by Hawthorn two weeks ago but they bounced back with a 46-point defeat of Greater Western Sydney last weekend. It was their third win of the season and they now find themselves in fifth position on the AFL ladder.

It doesn't get much bigger for Adelaide Football Club than playing Port Adelaide.

Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide will clash on Sunday at AAMI Stadium. The Crows are 1.54 to win, while the Power are 2.50 to do the same.
It will be the first time that the two Adelaide teams have met in Sanderson's reign and the Crows boss is fully aware how important it is to do well in this derby.
Sanderson said: "It doesn't get much bigger for Adelaide Football Club than playing Port Adelaide, so we are embracing this rivalry and going to come out with all guns blazing. Internally we have built the game up ... and our boys, particularly the ones South Australian born and raised, understand the significance of the game for the state and psyche of our supporters.
"We haven't hid from or played down the rivalry, and although it's still only four points for the winner, it does make you feel good when you can beat the hometown rivals. Win, lose or draw we will be giving everything we can."
